In partnership with the University of Nottingham, The University of Lincoln will be opening a brand new, state of the art medical school to be situated on the Brayford Campus next year.
The school will be admitting 80 students onto its undergraduate course in September 2019, and as the school becomes more established, the university hopes it can admit more students each year.
The Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Lincoln, Andrew Hunter, says “It’s one of the remaining bits of the puzzle for me, It really does see us as a fully rounded university that delivers across the whole spectrum of courses.”
As the second largest county in England with an ageing population, Lincolnshire has traditionally struggled to recruit and retain doctors. Hopefully with more medical graduates in the area, the stress on local county hospitals will be alleviated.
