Gender gap behind the decks

It’s no secret that the dance music industry has a considerably low number of female DJs to male. You only have to look at a music festival line-up to see the male dominance. But just how low is this actual number?

According to The DJ List who run the largest online DJ directory, only 24% of DJ’s in the world are female. It’s a low percentage, yet that shouldn’t diminish the fact that there are lots of talented female DJs out there.

As festival season is approaching, we take a look at the line-ups of some of the upcoming festivals in the UK, to see whether 2018 will be any different in bringing a more balance gender line-up.

Unfortunately from the info-graphic shown it’s clear to see that 2018 is not going to be any different.  While we can only hope that 2019 starts to see a change, let’s have a look at some of the finest female DJs at the moment.
