Cornhill Quarter welcomes new Lakeland shop

A new Lakeland store has opened in the Cornhill Quarter of Lincoln as part of the £70 million development of Lincoln’s High Street.

The new Lakeland shop in the Cornhill Quarter

Construction for phase two of the development is underway and is expected to be completed before Christmas this year.

Lakeland is the latest shop to open in the Cornhill Quarter following the likes of Thomas Cook, Moss Bros and the Cosy Club to open in the square.

The shop had been located in St. Marks for around 20 years before the £400,000 refurbishment which saw the shop move closer to the centre of Lincoln’s High Street.

The Cornhill Quarter is quickly becoming the gateway to the city centre.

An extra £30 million will be invested to build a new 1000 space multi-storey car park to provide parking for many of the 3.7 million tourists Lincoln welcomes each year.

A walkway will be built between the car park and the Cornhill Quarter with the aim of making the square the new hub of Lincoln’s city centre.

The Cornhill Quarter project

The Cornhill Quarter project is funded by Lincolnshire Co-op and has already won awards after the first phase of the construction was completed.

The project recently won the Heritage Project of the Year 2018 at the Greater Lincolnshire Construction and Property Awards.

Construction for phase two is still on-going so we can expect many more shops to be opening the near future.
