A 50-year-old Lincolnshire drama group has made its return to the stage with a sell-out performance after an unprecedented year-long absence.

The Langtoft Players – an amateur drama society based in Langtoft – had not staged a show since February 2025 after their autumn play, Over My Dead Body, was cancelled at short notice.

The performance, which was set to take place in September, was called off after a crew member withdrew at the last minute.

However, spirits were at an all-time high as the group returned to the stage this month with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Michelle Marshall, who played muddles the court jester and is the chairman of publicity said: “We had all of the performances sold out which we never had. I’ve never known anything like it.”

Langtoft Players were founded in 1973 by a group of villagers who suggested the performance of a concert to raise money for the local parish church.

From this, multiple events blossomed and the group quickly became an established part of village life. Participants often come from a range of age groups and backgrounds, with some members having taken part for over 20 years.

Ms Marshall, 43, said: “I’ve made lifelong friends from the players.”

Snow White – which ran for four night at Langtoft Vaillage Hall – was just the first event the group plans to hold this year with a murder mystery themed night in “early stages of planning” set for April and Duke’s Diner currently set for June.
