Summer holidays could be disrupted and will likely cost more thanks to the on-going jet fuel crisis, a Lincoln travel agent has warned.
Imp Travel, based in the Cornhill Quarter, has told LSJ News that cancellations are unlikely but that those planning to fly abroad could be in for delays and a potential increase in cost.
Managing director Mark Brewer spoke out as America’s war on Iran continues to disrupt shipping in the globally key Strait of Hormuz.
He said: “For clients this summer, I think things should be alright. They stockpile fuel – it’s bought in advance – but I think it will mean an increase in prices. I think the cost of the holidays and airfares are going to increase.”

With conflict now in its third month, Iran has effectively closed Strait of Hormuz, a fundamental route for transporting jet fuel out of the Middle East, leading to fears of a global summer shortage.
This, in turn, has caused international concerns around the availability and prices of flights.
Mark said: “We have definitely noticed a drop in demand at the minute. Inquiries are not as busy as they would be normally at this time of the year.”
He urged people who want to travel but fear disruption to book with a reputable travel agent who will keep them up to date with any issues.
And he said: “At the minute I wouldn’t have any cause for concern. Tour operators and airlines are not cancelling any flights out of the UK and all UK airlines have confirmed they have sufficient fuel to see them through.
“Keep planning, keep travelling but be aware and ensure to keep in contact with your travel organiser and airline.”
