Islamic Association of Lincoln praise successful Mosque Open Day

Latest plans for Lincoln's mosque

The Islamic Association of Lincoln believe the recent Mosque Open Day was a roaring success, with over 260 people visiting the Lincoln mosque.

The doors of the mosque on Orchard Street were open for anyone to come in and learn more about the religion, or the customs of Muslims.

The event, which is run by the Muslim Council of Britain, took place on February 5.

People of all faiths came to the mosque, and the Islamic Association of Lincoln believe it was a roaring success.

“It’s great to see so many people are here, and it just shows how much local support there is,” Tanweer Ahmed, the chairman of the association said.

This is the third year the Visit My Mosque scheme has taken place after it launched in 2015.

It could be an important year for Lincoln’s Muslim community with the construction of the new mosque set to be completed in May, before Ramadan, which is the holy month of fasting for Muslims.
