Lincoln Castle’s annual Christmas light display has been switched on for its fourth festive season.
The annual extravaganza will this year include moving reindeer animatronics, light sculptures including snowmen and gingerbread people, and a Christmas themed house which visitors can go inside. A train ride will whisk people around the ground.
The event – which is called Lincoln Castle Illuminated and organised by Lincoln City Council – first started after lockdown as a way to attract people back to one of Lincoln’s most historic sites.
Fairground-style games and rides as well as food and drink stalls all add to the atmosphere, organisers say.

Madelyn Hawkins, visitor experience manager, said: “When we first did the event during lockdown, we received lots of positive feedback, so we decided to keep doing it adding more and more each year.
“We intend to keep doing this event and have big plans for the future.”
The light show is open until 10pm each night Wednesday to Sundays until December 23. Tickets are £3 per person and can be booked here.
