Local businesses and organisations are decorating mini barons in Lincoln as part of a competition.

The competition is running for ten days with 12 more barons up for voting each day.

People in Lincoln are being encouraged to vote for their favourite mini baron.

A different heat will take place every day from Monday to Friday February 1 to 5, and then again from February 8 to 12. You can vote in each heat for three days.

The winning baron from each heat will then go through to a final and the winner will be announced.

Voting in the final will close at 11.59pm on Tuesday February 17.

This isn’t, however, the first time Lincoln has played host to decorated barons.

800 years ago, King John was forced to agree to Magna Carta, also known as the Great Charter, by the barons.

This lead to Lincoln having a long history with barons and celebrating the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta by creating a baron trail.

The trail was set up by the Trussell Trust and Lincolnshire Business Improvement group (Lincoln BIG)

The trail consisted of having 25 barons painted by different businesses around the city for people to view.

The barons consisted of the bomber baron, the steampunk baron, the graduate baron and many more: celebrating all things Lincoln!

The barons were then auctioned off raising a whopping £167,000.
