MEP Candidate visits Lincoln

Rupert Matthews, the conservative MEP candidate for the East Midlands, visited Lincoln over the weekend to help deliver leaflets to the Minster Ward. On Friday, February 7th, a team of volunteers, including the MP for Lincoln Karl McCartney and Mr Matthews, set out to deliver leaflets in the Lincoln area.

Although Mr Matthews had come to speak to constituents and fellow politicians, he couldn’t resist getting his hands dirty with a little leafleting. Mr Matthews said: “I’m always here to help out wherever I can.” Mr McCartney said: “I’m proud to have Rupert come and show his support in Lincoln and many thanks to the great team of volunteers who helped deliver in some early morning Lincoln sun.”

The UK’s European election is set to take place on Thursday, May 22. The majority of the results from the European Parliamentary election will be announced on Sunday, May 25. In this election Rupert Matthews will stand against Roger Helmer (UKIP) the current MEP for the East Midlands. Although Mr Helmer was originally conservative, he defected to UKIP in 2012.
