Sam Horsted, 60, has run the Ego vintage clothes shop, in The Strait in Lincoln city centre, for almost 30 years.
The store is much-loved for its rails full of new and preloved clothes, steampunk outfits, retro garments and wide range of accessories. It opened in 1992 with Sam taking it over in 1997.
The grandmother spoke to LSJ News as part of our ongoing My Lovely Lincoln series.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about living in Lincoln?
A: For me it would definitely have to be the community we’ve built here and the all friends I’ve made from just being here in the shop, speaking to people, getting to know them down the years.
Q: What’s your favourite place to go in Lincoln and why?
A: That’s difficult actually. I would honestly have to say my daughter’s house is my favourite place of all as I get to see the grandkids and that’s something I really love to do. Spending time with them means the absolute world to me.
Q: What would be your perfect weekend in Lincoln?
A: Well going on from the last question, it would be going to see the castle with the family. We did it last year for one of the history festivals and it was a great day out. The kids loved it.
Q: If you could change one thing about Lincoln, what would it be?
A: I would want the Christmas market back, and also having more events like it. Not only do things like that help the independent shops here, it also helps to bring the people together and builds the community.
