Adam Ayscough founded vintage clothes store Rock Retro six years ago after previously working at nearby Yak.
Today, the 28-year-old runs the shop – in the city centre’s Guildhall Street – with wife Michelle, 27.
He spoke to LSJ News as part of our ongoing My Lovely Lincoln series
Q: What’s your favourite thing about living in Lincoln and what’s your favourite place to go on a weekend?
A: I’d say my favourite thing is that it’s very walkable. It’s nice and small so you don’t have to go too far to go to different places. Also, the historic architecture – especially around the top of the hill with the cathedral and everything – is very nice. There are some great cafes here too that do good coffee.
Q: What would be your perfect weekend in Lincoln?
A: I’d say my perfect weekend would be a good day at the shop followed by a nice walk around the city, maybe taking in the cathedral.
Q: If you could change one thing about Lincoln, what would it be?
A: I don’t know if I’d change anything about Lincoln itself, but we do have some problems with customers stealing and stuff like that. It’s only a happened a handful of times but we get some weird stuff sometimes, like people have come in and sat on the floor saying they need a breather and you’re like, ‘What are you doing?’ But yeah, it can be pretty crazy.
Q: Would you like tighter security in the city centre then?
A: Yeah, I’d definitely like that although I’m not sure how you’d integrate it.
