Emma Haigh, 28, is the owner of Jailhouse Frock – a vintage clothes business which prioritises individuality and female body positivity.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about living in Lincoln?
A: I’ve lived here my whole life and have this weird connection to the city. I love it and I’m very proud of Lincoln. It feels like a city on the rise, ever growing and changing.
Q: What’s your favourite place to go in Lincoln? And why?
A: Other than jail house frock, of course, my favourite places are the pubs. My favourite is the Duke of William. We have lots of cosy, homely pubs. I do love a good pub trip.
Q: What would be your perfect Saturday in Lincoln?
A: Lots of people say you should go and be a tourist in your own city and I’m quite ashamed to say that I’ve never really done that. My ideal weekend would be to have a nice walk on south or west common, have a slice of cake and have a wander around all the touristy bits. The museum, castle, and Victorian prison.
Q: If you could change one thing about Lincoln, what would it be?
A: It makes me quite sad to see vacant shops on the high street. I would really love landlords to be more open to the idea of pop-up shops. I know in other cities they offer venues and buildings that have been empty for a while as opportunities for start-up, small business. These give people a chance and make the high street look better.
