Oculus Rift being tested in Lincoln

Prototypes of  a new virtual headset are currently being tested at the University of Lincoln.

The  Oculus Rift is an upcoming virtual reality head-mounted display produced by technology company Oculus VR.
Founded by Brendan Iribe and Palmer Luckey, the Oculus Rift is the first product to be produced by the Californian company, who have priced the headset at $350 for software developers.

The headset allows its user to step inside their favourite games and virtual worlds, by using state of the art technology such as “Stereoscopic 3D view” and “Low Latency 360 degree Head Tracking”.

In September 2013, Luckey told technology website thegameindustry.biz that “Virtual reality is going to be a platform, and not just something that you plug into the console. We’re going to get to the point where the headset is the console.”
