Research shows people in Lincoln earn less than the national average

New research has found that at least 70,000 people across Lincolnshire are paid less than the living wage in the country which works out at at 29% of all employees.

Lincoln city however has 23% of workers earning less than the living wage, aligning with the countries average.

Nationally the figures have shown that part time jobs are more likely to pay below the living wage than the

Lincolnshire County Council along with other groups are promoting Living Wage Week which is trying to encourage employers to pay their employees the living wage of £7.45. Ric Metcalfe said ” It’s not acceptable for a quarter of our workforce to be below a decent minimum.”

Ric Metcalfe leader of the City of Lincoln Council spoke to Jordan Yates from one of Lincoln’s community radio stations, Siren FM yesterday.
