The Nettleham Carnival is back and better than ever this year happening on Saturday, July 13th, it’s a day where the community comes together to raise money for the local village businesses.

With the village having to stop the Nettleham Christmas Market as of last year it’s a big day within the village to celebrate and showcase what they achieve, they have a carnival prince and princess each year.

The roads get closed, and the streets are filled with families having fun and checking out all the different stalls set out in the street whether it be the face painting, antiques stall or even the different food stalls.

They also find the money to hire carousels and other rides for children proving why it’s a fun family day out.

Lyla Barnes age 18 who has lived in Nettleham her whole life and has been to every carnival since it started said: “The carnival is one of the best days of the year, full of fun activities for young and old.

“Ever since I was little, I have been going to the carnivals and the atmosphere created in the community is amazing especially on a hot summer’s day.

“The aim of the carnival is to raise money for the village because we are a small village with lots of small businesses so its nice to be able to give back and help out the community.”

Lyla continued to add: “With the unfortunate closure of the Nettleham Christmas Market last year it will make the carnival even more important and expect to see a lot more people turn up to take part in the big day.”

They aim to put more into the carnival day to make it extra special this year with the loss of other events they host throughout the year.
