‘Blue Monday’ – the most depressing day of the year – has passed but what is it about January that makes people feel blue?

A recent survey of 1,000 people conducted by divorcedepot.co.uk suggests that it’s not just bills that make the month miserable, but arguments with in-laws are also one of the biggest causes of depression along with martial problems.

January is the month of most divorces, as couples who have been ‘holding it together’ over Christmas  finally take action to separate.

Disagreements over alcohol were also one of the reasons 1.8 million couples rowed over the Christmas period.
