The Ice Rink opens tomorrow at 10AM and will be available for use for the entire month of December.

Events and Promotions manager for Lincoln BIG Michael Armstrong said: “We’re nearly there and we open tomorrow at 10 o’clock, so now we are decorating and getting the finishing touch while we wait for the next layer of ice to come over.

“We’ve got an Olympic skater coming down to open the event, we’ve also got the Deputy Mayor coming and we’ve also got lots of ice dancers coming along as well, so they should bring in quite a crowd.

“The forecast is good for tomorrow so it’s going to be a great day! We’ve already had 3,00o children booked in which is great as that is a really important element of what we do.”

On the subject of Christmas events in Lincoln, the Lincoln Christmas Market organisers are introducing a new wristband scheme to keep families together at the market.

Holly Parker from Lincoln City Council said: “It’s something we’ve learnt from the Olympic events during the year and we will be giving out wristbands to parents and guardians that you can put on your children’s wrists.

“So that if they do get lost, we can give them a call and let them know that we have their child safe and secure at our lost child point.

“The idea is to relieve the amount of stress on parents.”

The Ice Rink costs £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for concessions.
