AFC Telford v Lincoln City

The FA Cup Trophy

Lincoln City boss Chris Sutton is hoping his side can avoid being the victims of a giant-killing as they take on AFC Telford United in the FA Cup first-round tomorrow.

The Imps have a dismal record in the competition having not made it through to the second round since 2003, an achievement that Sutton is desperate to repeat.

“It’s a good competition and we’re looking forward to it,” said the City chief.

“We haven’t made it through for six years and it’s about time we put that right.

“Telford are a decent side, there’s no doubt they’ll fancy their chances especially being at home.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re at it from the first whistle and that’s what we intend to do. We can’t go there and switch off at all because if we do they are capable of taking advantage of it.”

Adam Watts, on loan from Fulham and Aston Villa’s Nathan Baker have not been granted dispensation to play whilst Villa’s Eric Lichaj is suspended after being sent off in Lincoln’s 3-1 defeat to Morecambe last weekend.
