Imps head coach Michael Skubala has praised his side’s defensive performance in Lincoln City’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

Speaking after the game, he said: “I thought as a squad we defended very, very well and I can’t remember them having a shot on target to be honest.”

Talking about the challenge that Huddersfield posed, Skubala said: “You have to remember what they’re chasing. Even in the last moments when lots of players are cheating and staying high no matter what and trying to get something out of the game, we still have to defend.

“These are a team that defended very well. We’ve got to keep pushing and keep improving. We had a threat on the counter today when we got out, but we just needed to be a little bit more calm and create a few more chances for ourselves.

“One thing that’s definite is that we want to defend well.”

Skubala spoke on central defender Adam Jackson, who assisted Reeco Hackett’s game winning goal.

He said: “He brings quality and experience. I’m really happy with all the centre halves we have in the building. Whenever we put them in there, they’re magnificent.

“I really like it when he drives up with the ball. He’s got quality. I thought defensively today he was very clever with his position.”

The win consolidates Lincoln City’s midtable position of twelfth in the Sky Bet League One table.

The Imps will hope to replicate this display on Saturday, as they travel to fourth placed Charlton Athletic.
