Junior Doctors on strike in March over new contracts

Junior doctors in England have announced plans for a full scale walkout later this month.

The strikes will take place on April 26 & 27 and will be fifth time that junior doctors have demonstrated over new contracts.

The Medical Director for NHS in England, Bruce Keogh, described the prospect of junior doctors withdrawing emergency care over the next fortnight as serious.

He wrote in the Observer: “Whatever the rights and wrongs of this complex dispute, this is a very serious state of affairs, with serious consequences.”

The last demonstrations in Lincoln took place on April 6 and lasted for 48 hours following the news that the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, had decided to impose new contracts on junior doctors.

We spoke to junior doctor, Jess Davison, during the walkout outside Lincoln County Hospital.
