As part of Wildlife Crime Awareness Week, Lincolnshire Police are supporting the campaign in an attempt to crack down on those fishing without a valid licence in private fisheries and rivers, as well as bringing the issue to the public eye.
Anglers are warned that if they do not have the correct licence and keep it on them at all times whilst fishing, they may face fines of up to £2,500 or even prosecution.
Lincolnshire Police have Tweeted asking for members of the public to call 101 or Crimestoppers if dead or gutted fish are found in large quantities on river banks, as this could be a sign that poachers are active in that area.
