Everyone enjoys the cinema. But nobody enjoys paying for overpriced tickets and popcorn. LSJ reporter Jonathan Brine went to the Odeon cinema on Brayford waterfront to see if it was possible to go see the latest film releases for less than ten pounds.

However Jonathan found that the reality is very different.

The cost of going to the cinema in Lincoln can cost £16.75 for an adult peak time ticket, which costs £9.00, a soft drink that cost £3.25 and a medium popcorn which cost £4.50. This places the Lincoln’s Odeon cinema as one of the most expensive in the country.

Lincoln’s Odeon prices are higher than other Odeon cinemas across the country: they are £2.50 more expensive than in Hull and £2.00 more than in Sheffield.

Mansfield and Huddersfield cinemas are some of the most expensive in the region, with prices of £8.05 and £7.95— but it still costs more to go to the cinema in Lincoln than in these much bigger cities.

When Lincoln’s Odeon cinema was asked for a comment, a spokesperson said they were unable to comment on the range of prices between cinemas owned by the company.
