Lincoln City achieved a win at home for the first time in 2 months against Newport County.
The Imps were without a win in the league since January and the frustration from fans reached boiling point today, as supporter groups formed a protest outside the ground pre-kick off.
The result today however might be enough to cheer some of the fans up, as Lincoln are now 19th in the league and sit 4 points clear of the relegation zone.
Lincoln started the brighter team and created a few early chances including an effort from Jefferson Louis from 20 yards out which just missed the left post.
It was then Newport’s turn to attack as they starting putting together some good attacking play which forced Lincoln back into their own half.
Newport were caught on the counter-attack from which Lincoln City earned a corner. The corner was lofted in by John Nutter, who found the head of Mark McCammon who easily headed in from 6 yards.
The goal spurred Lincoln on who minutes later found the goal again through a John Nutter freekick.
Newport not disheartened by the two goal deficit attempted to spark a come-back before the break with a succession of corners which eventually came to nothing.
Lincoln started the second half on the front foot, and a shot from Jefferson Louis early on showed that Lincoln would be coming out with the same passion they had played the first half with.
The second half continued with chances from both teams, but the weak defense that Lincoln have showed in previous weeks were on top form and were able to see the game out.
