The 62-year-old spoke to LSJ News as part of our ongoing My Lovely Lincoln series.
Q: What’s your favourite thing about living in Lincoln?
A: The thing I like about Lincoln is that the old and new works so well together. We’ve got our beautiful cathedral but we’ve also we’ve got one of the best universities in the country. When I was mayor [2023-24] so many people from out of town said they liked the city and the high street. They thought it was just a beautiful, historic city.
Q: Where is your favourite place to go in the city and why?
A: For me, it would be the football ground, because I love football. I went to my first Lincoln City game with my dad when I was just four [in 1967] and have been going ever since. I love the hustle and bustle of it all.
Q: What would be your perfect weekend in Lincoln?
A: Saturday afternoon going to a Lincoln City game and having a few drinks with my friends afterwards. Then, on the Sunday, going to one of our lovely restaurants somewhere in the city.
Q: If you could change one thing about Lincoln, what would it be?
A: I’d take all the telegraph poles down, so we can see more of our beautiful city.
