A major High Street fashion favourite has opened a new store which will serve Lincolnshire shoppers just in time for Christmas.

H&M’s new store in the Vancouver Quarter in King’s Lynn is now open after a two-and-a-half year wait and is ready for Christmas shoppers.

Shoppers in the south of the county now  have an alternative to travelling to the Waterside shopping centre in Lincoln, where H&M has its only branch in Lincolnshire.

Susannah Rayner, events and marketing manager of the Vancouver Quarter, said: “It’s been a long-anticipated wait and we can’t wait for the shop to finally open.

“The shop offers a childrenswear section as well as men’s and women’s clothing and includes an entirely ethical echo source range, so a whole department will be environmentally friendly.

“For us personally we’ve had lot of build as it’s been about two-and-a-half years.” Susannah explained the long wait, saying: “Six months of that was planning for the building and it just takes time for buildings to go up.”

Susannah said she is not the only person who is excited about the opening as local people have reacted positively to the new offering for the Quarter.

The opening day saw special events including a DJ. The first 200 customers got an exclusive goodie bag and anybody in the queue before 11am got a 25 per cent off wristband.

On the opening day H&M attracted more than 500 customers, with some eager shoppers arriving at 6am.

The shop covers 1,500 square metres of what mainly was empty space.
