Lincoln City have completed the first phase of a £2m regeneration project at the LNER Stadium.
A new 3G sports facility in the heart of the Sincil Bank community, has been opened to the public.
The 3G will host many of the Lincoln City Foundations activities, including walking football, mental health football, girls’ development centres and disability football.
CEO at the Football Club, Liam Scully, said: “As a football club for the people of Lincoln, it is a community asset.
“If we can bring the LNER facilities to the community we should do, and that has been the focus with this project.”
The Imps were awarded a grant from the government’s Football Foundation, the Premier League and the FA as part of a wider ongoing £2m project to provide vital green space and community facilities.
The grant will also help the club in their future ambitions to redevelop the Stacey West Stand.
Andrew Whitham, Head of Commercial at Lincoln City said: “The main purpose is the expansion of the stadium.
“That will create a void underneath the stand that will be developed for classroom space for the Foundation and for other community projects for the people of Lincoln.
Lincoln City received planning permission in February last year to nearly double the capacity of the Stacey West Stand to 3,400.

With impending American investment by the end of May, the expansion of the stand is set to be complete in 2022.
