There are a lot of big issues in the world right now. But one question has lately been bothering me more than most: why, why, why is it a criminal offence to like a Tesco tea bag instead of the better known brands?
Don’t they do the same job? Who are these snobs that think they’re better than other people because they like, say, Yorkshire Tea or Twinings?
I am a Tesco tea fan – and proud!
I couldn’t care less if you think your bag of choice tastes better, stronger or more refined. I like what I like, and I don’t expect to be judged. Just like I would never dream of judging anyone for spending an astronomical amount of money on a tiny bag filled with leaves.
*judging*
Let’s be real here, no one should be spending £3.30 on 80 tea bags. My Tesco own brand cost me £1.25 and I love me a saving! Especially when that £2.25 can go on another kind of drink altogether.
I can obviously understand that as human beings we like all like different things. But I’ve got my lawyer, my brief case and my pantsuit, and I’m ready to settle this debate once and for all.
I love waking up to my morning cuppa as much as I love Glen Powell. I’m in a fully-fledged relationship with it. Embarrassing I know, but hopefully this puts things into perspective. Tea is emotional. Some 84 per cent of the UK’s population drink it daily.
So I can accept you drinking your Yorkshire Tea if you can accept me being in love with a cheaper variety.
Let’s drink to that agreement – but let’s use my bags to do it.
