Enderby residents are mobilising against plans to transform green space, including Enderby Golf Course and Carlton Park, into a housing development named Hayes Gardens. The project, part of Blaby District Council’s Local Plan, proposes 800 new homes alongside parks, play areas, and community facilities.
PENGS (Protect Enderby and Narborough Green Spaces) warns that the development would destroy vital green areas and strain local infrastructure.
“We’re losing access to nature for residents, relaxing walks, and even a very popular golf course,” said a PENGS representative. “This will increase traffic and pollution, while schools and doctors are already at capacity.”
PENGS is gathering petitions, collaborating with local councillors, and raising awareness through events and door-to-door campaigns.
The next council meeting on 25th February 2025 will discuss the proposal. Petitions remain open—visit PENGS’ Facebook page to find out more.
