It is becoming increasingly difficult for nurses, with extra cut backs, longer hours, and relatively low pay. They are the people who are on the ground, looking after a large number of people at the same time, and so they job can be quite stressful. Nurses have a reputation for caring about their patients a great deal, and so it can often be tough on them when a patient, sadly, dies. How emotional can nurses allow themselves to get when a patient dies, if at all, and how much toll does it really take on them? It is also an issue that nurses do not seem to be trained appropriately before they are sent out onto hospital wards as part of their university degree. Ben Ayres reports.
