A man has been barred from almost every shop in Grantham and every Co-op in Lincolnshire, after being convicted of five counts of theft.
Benjamin Noddings, 46, from the town’s Wroxhall Drive, stole items with a combined value of £400.
As well as the ban, he was handed a suspended prison sentence, as well as a three-year criminal behaviour order (CBO) and a fine of £376.30 when he appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court on February 19.
Sargent lee Mayfield from Grantham’s Neighbourhood policing team, said he hoped the sentence would send the message that repeated thefts will not be tolerated.
He said: “Criminal Behaviour Orders are an important tool that help us protect our communities from persistent offending.”
He added: “We will continue to work closely with retailers in Grantham to ensure the conditions of the order are upheld, and we encourage the public to report any breaches so we can take swift and appropriate action.”
Noddings has received a prison sentence of eight weeks suspended for 12 months. He will still be allowed in Morrisons and Gill Pharmacy, in Grantham, for purposes of collecting essential medication and healthcare products.
