The inclusion of women within the sport cricket is seen to have a huge increase in Nettleham with the team continuing to grow.
“It has enabled many women to get the opportunity to be able to play and be active.”
Within women’s sport especially cricket there is a lack of role models for young girls looking to get involved however this changed after the 2017 Women’s cricket World Cup win.
“We also had many girls start competing at county level and a select few have joined up with our men’s team.”
The inclusion of the women joining up with the men’s is good when it comes to promoting fair game within sport and the aim to make playing sports more equal.
These successes have not just happened over night, this has taking years of planning with the risk of it being unsuccessful too.
“At Nettleham we came up with a 5-year plan in 2017 to get women playing cricket we have smashed our targets in 2022 and have seen growth since then.”
