LINCOLN KICKBOXER SET TO FIGHT IN NEW YORK

Shawn Burton and Tom Scutt are back to winning ways.

Kickboxing phenomenon Shawn Burton is set to fly the flag for Britain as he takes on Bobby Campbell in New York on the 22nd November.

After his recent victory over Edward Bettison, the World Kickboxing Association British Champion is back to winning ways, something he hopes will continue:

”The win opens a lot of new doors for me,” he says, ”it’s a chance for me to get back to competing for world titles.”

The co-founder of the Lincoln Fight Factory stated that the hard work had ”paid off”, after defeating Wolverhampton’s Bettison in a four round thriller in front of a packed out crowd at the Lincolnshire Showground last Saturday.

He now faces Bobby Campbell in a highly anticipated rematch in Long Island.

The 27 year old is seeking revenge after losing out to Campbell four years ago on home turf.

”I wasn’t in the right shape or the right mind frame last time,” he says.

”I’m really looking forward to this one.”

Shawn wasn’t the only Lincoln fighter on show last weekend, fellow Fight Factory member Tom Scutt won his third title in his 12 fight career against Middlesbrough’s Glen Coleman.

The 22 year old said that it was ”great to finish it in style”, after dominating the fight for five rounds to win the Commonwealth title.

Tom has now set his sights on European success and like Burton,  another shot at the world title next year.

The fighter felt heartache in Argentina last April after losing out to Alberto Median, the youngsters only defeat in his 4 year career.

”I was gutted to lose in Argentina earlier this year,” he says.

”I stepped in at the last minute so hopefully if I get the chance again I’ll be prepared and ready for the fight.”
