The Imps face struggling Skrill South side Worcester City this weekend in the  FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

Simpson was joined at the press conference by players Sean Newton and Jake Sheridan.

Despite Lincoln enjoying a one league advantage over their opponents, Simpson is wary of underestimating Worcester. He said ‘They’re all potential banana skins, and we know from history that anything can happen on the day.’

Simpson said that his team need to prepare properly for the match, and attack the game in the right way to nullify the opposition’s enthusiasm, allowing for their greater quality to shine through.

Worcester City have struggled to pick up points in recent matches, and currently find themselves in the relegation zone.

Last year, the Imps exceeded all expectations in reaching the second round of the FA Cup, falling short of a dream tie with Liverpool by one game.

After a strong start to the season, Lincoln head into the fixture in poor form. The team have failed to win in their last four matches.

Defender Sean Newton does not feel the loss of form has affected the squad’s confidence. And that they will be mentally prepared for any challenge they face.

The major problem has been their drought in front of goal. Lincoln have only managed to score seventeen goals in sixteen games.

However midfielder Jake Sheridan does not feel that the side are far away from turning around their fortunes. He said ‘ It only takes a second in football… the run hasn’t been the best but I don’t think its panic stations just yet, we’ve got the players.’

Lincoln City face Worcester City at Aggborough on Saturday 26th October at 3pm.
