Figures from the Home Office show that the number of officers serving the Lincolnshire police force has fallen by 22 in the space of a year.

The number of civilian staff serving the force has been cut by almost 80 in the same time period.

With a rise in the number of buglaries in Lincoln, with student houses in particular being targeted, some Lincoln residents are asking if less police means a less safe community?

One resident, 21 year old student Gareth Ashford a victim of buglary in february of this year said:

“For them to have gotten away with it, there’s not enough police at the minute and the cuts are only going to make things worse”.

To some extent the chief constable of the Lincolnshire police Richard Crompton agrees saying in march that, the force is nearing the point where it will not be able to offer the same level of service to the public.
