Lincoln’s Wonderwoman fights cancer

Wonderwoman and Supergirl

Don’t be surprised if you bump into a couple of superheroes whilst walking around Lincoln this week.

Two women from the city are dressing up as the children’s comic characters to raise money for the  charity,  Cancer Research UK.

Cassie Watson and Rebecca Viney may well be Lincoln’s very own superheroes, as they are aiming to fight cancer and its causes.

They have vowed to dress up as the comic book characters Wonderwoman and Supergirl for two weeks (from 11th November until 25th November) non-stop apart from showering and washing the costumes.

So far, the dynamic duo have beaten their original  target of £500 and raised over £700.

Cassie (a.k.a., Wonderwoman) says that she wants to raise even more, “It has changed definitely over the week…I think I’m getting a bit ambitious now because I’d like to get to £1000, but whether that actually happens is a different thing.”

With still four days left of their fundraising to go, it is still a possible target. But Cassie still has further ambitions. As the newly appointed Head of Charities and Fundraising in one of the Lincoln branches of Tesco Express, she is aiming to organise yet more charity events for Cancer Research UK, “We might be organising a Tesco sky dive over the next few months”.

It looks like Lincoln truly does have some new heroes in its midst.
