Lindum Hockey remain unbeaten after win against Beeston

Lindum extended their unbeaten streak in league hockey to 30 games with their 4-1 victory on Sunday.

A dominant performance from Lindum saw them claim their sixth win of the season.

A 4-1 victory for Lindum Men’s 1’s over Beeston 2’s on Sunday saw their unbeaten run-in league hockey reach 30 games, remaining top of the Men’s Conference North.

Coming into the clash, Lindum sat pretty at the top of the table and were looking to make it six wins out of their initial seven games, whereas Beeston’s aims were to lift themselves from the bottom three.

The first quarter saw an even start, however Lindum’s quality shone through in the sixth minute when Matt Parker opened the scoring from a penalty corner.

Lindum’s domination continued throughout the second quarter, failing to capitalize from two penalty corners in the eighth and ninth minute, Beeston’s defending keeping them within the game.

Despite their efforts, Beeston couldn’t contain Lindum any longer, doubling their lead in the second minute of the third quarter from a penalty corner, dispatched by Ben Read.

The chances kept flowing for Lindum as they searched for a third goal, coming via the ninth minute. A slick team move saw Ben Read score his second of the game, adding to his tally for club in which he is the season top-scorer.

The end of the quarter saw Beeston try and find a way back into the game, but their penalty corner was saved by the Lindum goalkeeper.

The eleventh minute of the fourth quarter, Beeston would claw back a goal from a penalty corner, however Lindum ended any chances of a revival. The sixteenth minute of the final quarter saw Lindum score their fourth of the game sealing the victory, Harry Antill finishing off a team move.

After the game, Lindum manager Mark Sadler expressed his views on the start to the season.

“It’s a long way to go and we have had a few injuries up to now which have taken a toll on the squad, but fingers crossed, just keep getting the results, keep working hard and the fruits of the labor will come through in the end.”

Player-coach Matt Bell gave his opinion of the teams unbeaten run of 30 games.

“It’s a massive achievement, but it puts a target on our back for other teams.”
