A study has been published claiming that one in ten teenagers do not own a pen.
Researched by pen manufacturers, the study also found that one in three adolescents had never written a letter, and a quarter hadn’t sent either Christmas or birthday cards.
The research found that as many teenagers own smartphones as pens.
The topic provoked conflicting opinions.
Alisha May Wilmot enthused, “I always carry a pen on me! Never know when you need them when I go to class I always take three in case some stop working.”
Sebastian Farr concurred. “I have three pens in my bag at all times and a box of 150 on my desk.”
Joe Creaser, however, offered a more modern outlook. “Never take a pen around, I always note stuff on my phone.”
Though sharing a similar view, Danyal Khan’s reasoning was somewhat different. “I rarely bring a pen to my classes because I rely too much on the friendship of others to provide pens for me.”
