Dr Mistrelle Ellmore, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lincoln who specialises in Nutritional Supplements, has said that the doping issue may cause an “enormous impact” to all sportsmen in future.
A global investigation has now been launched to question all Athletic authorities on doping due to the Independent Commission Report. This document, which was published on Monday, condemned Russian Athletes for using illegal methods to enhance their performances.
The World Anti-Doping Agency looked into the issue after a documentary called “Top Secret Doping: How Russia makes its Winners” was broadcasted by West German Broadcasting Cologne in December 3 last year.
The film claimed that there was state-sponsored doping within the All-Russian Athletics Federation, which is the country’s governing body for athletics.
However, Kremlin have fought back saying that the allegations are “groundless” and that the accusations should be “supported by evidence”.
Ellmore believes that budding athletes will be put under more pressure to remain clean and that there is a possibility of having drastic changes, which may affect the Sports Department at the University of Lincoln.
