Ten man Hull can’t hold back Palace enough to deny them a winner

Hull started the match in a good attacking formation, taking possession of the ball over Palace. A misjudged header between McShane and Chamakh means that they connect heads and both getting medical attention on the sidelines. Both go back onto the pitch in the next couple of minutes.

12’, some nifty work from Dikgacoi, brings the ball back into Palace’s possession. They look like more of the dominating side at the moment. Sagbo shoots at goal which is kicked out by Speroni. Hull cannot make enough impact in Palace’s box.

Not everything happened on pitch, it all kicked off when stewards tried to take down the ‘WE ARE HULL CITY’ banner, a chorus of boos throughout the stadium. This is following the name of Hull City being changed to the Hull Tigers.

Bolasie is starting to look like a menacing attacker as McShane blocks another cross from him, a corner for Palace which Bannan takes but no one runs to meet. At forty five minutes in (plus an added time of 3 minutes) a yellow card is shown to Elmohamady for a foul on Gayle. A free kick is given, taken by Bolasie but blocked by wall. At half time, the score remains 0 – 0.

A very good chance for Hull, Sagbo shoots and Speroni had to crouch to grab it. Then as a reply, Palace had a great chance for a goal, Gayle and McGregor grapple for the ball. Although, McGregor wins it.

53’, a yellow card for Dikgacoi for a high elbow. Bolasie is again creating chances for Palace, a mean shot that McGregor had to bat away and bounced down the touch line. Palace substitution: Jedinak off Liam Resenior on.

A challenge on Elmohamady resulted in a Hull corner, taken by Boyd. A scramble for the ball in the box meant that two Hull players were knocked down, one being Figueroa, who remained on the ground for a while.

An attack on Livermore from Bolaise meant a straight red for him, and Livermore remained down until the 79’. Crystal Palace were down to 10 men. There were 23,043 people in attendance with 921 Palace fans making the trip up.

A Jerome assist in the 80’ aids Bannan to take a shot at the goal, while McGregor and the defenders were caught in a scramble and scores. This makes the score Hull City 0 – 1 Crystal Palace.

Hull were creating more chances and taking more shots in these last 10 minutes, eager to equalize. There is a Palace substitution, Gayle off for Puncheon. 4 minutes added time and Figueroa is named Man of the Match.

In the 94’ minute there is a proper scramble for the ball after a Hull corner, which Bannan takes.

Livermore’s shot goes into the goal, but is kicked out by a defender, he goes for another which ricocheted off the post. Hull denied an equalizer.

Full time at the KC is Hull 0 – Crystal Palace 1 and was Hull’s first home defeat of the season, Crystal Palace have haven’t lost to Hull in their last 5 meetings.

Steve Bruce, manager of Hull City admitted that: “We just didn’t create enough.”
