Lincoln city centre started off its Christmas season with a triple celebration when the lights were switched on on Friday.

The ceremony saw hundreds of people line the High Street and St Marks Shopping Centre to join in with officially starting the festive season in Lincoln.

Lincs FM’s John Marshall hosted the event and was joined by a Spice Girls tribute act, the Linkage Choir and stars of the Lincoln Drill Hall panto.

The High Street lights were then switched on at 7pm by the Mayor of Lincoln Councillor Sue Burke, who  was joined by Barney Harewood, star of Prank Patrol, along with Chris Johnson from CBBC and Zoe Hedge, who appeared on ITV’s The Voice.

The Waterside Shopping Centre’s lights were turned on at 7.30pm.

Along with the switching on of the lights, there was plenty for the family to do, with a pantomime performance outside the war memorial.
