Privacy gone mad? Google have blurred the faces of the famous Lincoln Barons on their online map in order to protect their identities.
Google’s street view technology allows users to explore a location in more detail by moving a camera around the area at street level.
In order to protect the privacy of those caught in the photos, Google have taken measures to automatically blur any information that could be used to identify them.
The Barons, which were part of celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the Magna Carta, have subsequently had their faces blurred suggesting the software doesn’t work as well as it could.
Privacy concerns around Google’s use of street view have always been in the limelight with many countries and privacy advocates against it.
Anyone worried about what is shown on Google Street View can make a request to have their house or anything else blurred.
