Hope Virgo author and health campaigner visited the university as part of Body Positivity month which was launched by the university’s wellbeing centre.

With the lack of understanding that many people have over the issue of body dysmorphia, this further established as to why it was important to bring individuals like Hope Virgo, who had suffered and recovered from an eating disorder to come and talk about body positivity.

Hope said: “I think it is so important to have these sort of talks in a university environment because we don’t talk about body positivity and it’s one of those things that needs to have more awareness raised.”

As a health campaigner Hope launched the ‘Dump the Scales‘ campaign which aimed to make sure that nobody is turned away from treatment for eating disorders purely because of their weight.

The petition that Hope created for her campaign has more than 100,000 signatures.
