*UPDATE- WEDNESDAY 15TH MAY 2024*

Lincolnshire’s spud king award winner David Armstrong has claimed one of the top gongs in farming.

David Armstrong of Abbey Farm in Bardney (affectionally known as ‘The Spud Barn’) was crowned Potato Grower of the year at the 2024 National Arable and Grassland awards.

And now he has been nominated for a Countryside Alliance award – known as the #RuralOscars.

David recalled winning his potato award: “It felt really brilliant, hearing my name read out as I was filming the event on stage.”

He added that awards host Lucy Porter was just as excited: “She just loved potatoes so she bigged it up all the way through, so when we got to the potato category very near the end of the award ceremony, she was getting so excited, and we had a massive hug when I got on stage.”

Lincolnshire’s rich soil is perfect for growing potatoes and produces approximately 20% of England’s spuds.

All of David’s potatoes are fully traceable – right down to the field they came from and the date they were harvested! They can be purchased directly from https://thespudbarn.co.uk/index.php/shop/

*UPDATE- 15th May 2024*

The Spud Barn and David Armstrong have won The Countryside Alliance Awards, East of England-Rural Enterprise of the year award. Huge congratulations to David and the team!
