Lincoln United welcome the British Heart Foundation and Lincoln City legends in a charity match to raise money for life saving research.
The charity match is organised by Gary Burr, in memory of his later father who died of a sudden heart attack in September 2016. Peter Burr was soon to retire and celebrate his 40th wedding anniversary.
The game will be played on March 1st at Ashby Avenue, home to Lincoln United, and will feature a number of former Lincoln City footballers including Scott Kerr, who captained the side during his six year stay at the Imps, and Terry Fleming, who scored in the 2-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion that saw Lincoln promoted from division 3, their first promotion in 10 years.
Gary Burr, who set up the charity football team British Heart Foundation Football Club, said ‘we play 4 or 5 games a year raising awareness but also raising money for the British Heart Foundation. I have always organised charity football matches, it’s a good way of getting your friends together, playing football and raising money for worthy causes’’.
“Its great to raise money in memory of my dad, he loved his football and would of loved to be cheering on both teams. The money will help fund lifesaving research for the British Heart Foundation so that means a lot to me”.
