Last night the City of Lincoln Council approved planning for the third phase of the Cornhill Quarter development scheme.
The new building, part of the £70m city rejuvenation plan, will be opposite the recently built Corn Exchange building, facing onto Exchange Square.
The Exchange Square building will feature a dramatic two-storey glazed façade restaurant, a roof terrace bar and restaurant with views of the Cathedral, and Everyman Cinema due to open in Spring 2019 showing the latest blockbusters as well as classic films.
Speaking about the development, Ursula Lidbetter, CEO of Lincolnshire Co-op, said: “The Cornhill Quarter scheme will rejuvenate a significant area of Lincoln’s retail pitch.”
“We have developed a vision for the Cornhill Quarter that complements Lincoln City Centre; encompassing Cornhill, Sincil Street and St Mary’s Street, through a sensitive combination of repair, refurbishment, extension and new development.”
The first phase of the scheme, the Corn Exchange building, opened in October 2017 and is home to Cosy Club, Moss Bros., Flying Tiger Copenhagen and Thomas Cook.
Phase two involves 4 new units totalling 21,000 sq ft due for completion before Christmas 2018.
