One Lincoln City fan, Pete Welbourne, told LSJ News that he was delighted with the draw, “It’s a fantastic draw, It just should have been at Sincil Bank!”

He also praised the job the Cowleys have done and spoke about how important the cup run could be for the city as a whole, “The Cowleys ought to have medals because they’ve put Lincoln on the map this past year or two.

“When the football team does well, the whole city does well because people talk about you and being a retired businessman myself I can tell you that it’s great publicity.”

Another excited Lincoln fan, David Winter, told LSJ News that he’ll be going to the game in January.

“It’s a very good draw and should bring in a lot of money to the club, i’m a season ticket holder and I’ll be there at Everton.”

Another Imps supporter told LSJ News he believes the draw is close to a perfect draw for Lincoln.

“You couldn’t have asked for much of a better draw really, I know it’s not one of the top 6 but they’re still a good premier league side with some good players.”

However the draw has left some people in a tricky situation.

Lincoln City chairman Clive Nates is a lifelong Everton supporter and expressed his thoughts on the draw on Twitter. For his first tweet since the draw he said “Oh dear, now I have to come over. And it’s likely to be cold.” In the following tweet he joked: “I always said this is the only time i would really want a half and half scarf.”

Everton fans have also been reacting to the draw on Twitter, one user @Paddy_McKeanEFC said: “Bring on Lincoln City, it’ll be a very tough game for us despite what lots of people are saying! They’ve got nothing to lose and they’ll play like that, it’s football and anything can happen!”

Another Everton fan @thetoffees_com said: “Lincoln at home in the FA Cup. They were the giant killers in 16/17 beating Ipswich, Brighton and Burnley and matching Arsenal for 45 minutes. Not to be underestimated, really want to go far this year!”

Lincoln City are still reaping  the rewards of their FA Cup run in the 2016/17 season where they reached the Quarter finals after beating the likes of Ipswich, Brighton and Burnley. Their journey was ended by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium but it was a run the supporters will never forget.

It was reported that the club received over £1m from the previous cup run. The money has enabled the club to bring in a lot of good new signings, as well as helping them get their brand new training ground. They have also gained massively in support since the cup run, almost tripling their average home attendance since the start of the 2016/17 season.
