At 5:15PM on Saturday, the 172nd Grand National race will be run at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool.

Across the country, racing lovers and casual fans alike will tune in to the historic race as the runners and riders attempt to negotiate the near four and half mile route, including infamous fences ‘Beachers Brook and ‘The Chair’.

They can expect high drama, with 40 horses set to start the race which has produced many memorable moments over its long history. From Bob Champion winning in 1981 after overcoming cancer, to legendary jockey AP McCoy finally claiming victory after many years of trying in 2010.

It is the race which often attracts non regular gamblers to place a bet. Some choose their horse because of its name, others because its jockey is one they’ve heard of.

We’ve picked out ten horses to consider when making your pick for tomorrow’s big race
