A wool and knitting supplies shop is among former Lincoln Market stall holders who have reunited to set up shop in an mediaeval church.
Linda Hodds has been running her stall, The Woolbox, for over 40 years, after she took it over from the last owner. She says that her first week trading in St Benedict’s, just off of High Street, has been successful.
Sharing the space with Unicorn Tree Books and Comic Worlds, she says that moving in with the people she used to trade alongside has been an “added bonus”.
“I’ve fitted in very well, and they’ve made me feel very welcome,” she said.
St Benedict’s is an old medieval church, now home to three traders, it’s a unique location that Linda describes as “beautiful”.
“It’s nice to be in somewhere different,” she said.
Her stall, The Woolbox, sells wools, accessories, needles, patterns and repairs, and has served locals in Lincoln’s City Centre for generations.
Mark Brunton, owner of the local independent comic shop, Comic Worlds, said: “It’s nice to have another market trader with us.”
“It’s helping to bring more people than usual,” he says.
Linda says that she finds knitting relaxing, and that her customers do too.
She says: “Quite a few students have started this year too, it’s relaxing.”
“A lot of them start to knit because instead of being on computers all of the time you can relax more, you turn off, you go in your own little world.”
