Lincoln City coasted past Nuneaton Town tonight after a 3-1 win over the conference strugglers.
City were rarely threatened by Nuneaton whose defence was riddled with errors throughout. The result is Chris Moyses third win in a row since taking over as manager.
All of the damage in the first half came through Lincoln’s right wing as Marcus Marshall and Jake Caprice combined to devastating effect.
The signs were ominous early on as Caprice breezed past his opposing full-back in the opening few minutes of the game.
The Imps didn’t have to wait long for their first goal either after great work from Marcus Marshall to wriggle away from his marker before playing the ball across the box to Jordan Burrow who’s deft backheel rolled into the Nuneaton net in the sixth minute.
Nuneaton were able to settle before their defence was undone again ten minutes later as Jake Caprice was given far too much time and space to run towards goal before laying the ball off to Ben Tomlinson who drilled his shot across the keeper and into the bottom left corner.
Nuneaton rarely threatened and Charlee Adams should have scored a third after once again not being closed down in the middle of the pitch before dragging his left footed shot wide of the foot of the post.
Jordan Burrow should have added to his tally as well after Ben Tomlinson’s ball into space but he could only direct his shot at Nuneaton’s goalkeeper.
Nuneaton’s only sight at goal was nearly one to forget for Lincoln City goalkeeper, Paul Farman who almost spilled a harmless cross into his own net after dropping the ball on the line before scrambling it away.

Lincoln couldn’t maintain their dominance after half time as Nuneaton came out in search of a way back into the game.
Marcus Marshall continued to dazzle the opposition defence and managed to escape three players before his low cross was left by Tomlinson only to roll to the opposition.
Lincoln City’s third goal came eventually in the 60th minute and it was another mistake at the heart of the Nuneaton defence after a howler by Nuneaton keeper, Christian Dibble who could only spill the ball into the path of Burrow who had plenty of time to tuck in his 8th goal of the season.
Lincoln continued to find space on the counter as Nuneaton pushed up to find a way back into the game and Connor Robinson could have added a fourth if only Ben Tomlinson’s pull back wasn’t behind him.
Then Theo Streete capped off a miserable night for Nuneaton after another error and Connor Robinson found himself through on goal before being hauled back by the Nuneaton captain who was sent off for a professional foul.
Nuneaton substitute, Gavin Cowan nodded in a consolation goal for Nuneaton in the 90th minute after he escaped from his marker at a free kick and steered his header in at the near post.
Assistant manager, Grant Brown: “First and foremost it’s important to win the game. We wanted to tighten things up so it’s a little bit disappointing to concede a goal at the end, but we will take the three points.”
