The Lincoln City Foundation is holding its first student community event to promote opportunities for building CVs by getting valuable volunteering experience.

The event takes place on Monday, October 14 at 6pm and will include free pizza, board games and a stadium tour as well as information from foundation workers. The evening starts from the Lincoln City Foundation Office – located under the Selenity Stand.

The event targets students who live in Sincil Bank – home of Lincoln City – and are interested in volunteering and adding experience to their CV.

Alice Carter, senior community organiser for Lincoln City Foundation, said: “This is the first event we’re doing that is specifically marketed for students.

“We want to make sure that the students in Lincoln feel part of the Sincil Bank community and that they feel like it is a home rather than just somewhere they happen to be living.

“We’ll be discussing ways to support the students and help them in any way but also to educate them about the area they are living in.

“We can offer them help finding volunteering positions that might relate to their course too if that’s a requirement.”

The Sincil Bank Community Partnership, which promotes the Lincoln City Foundation, received £235,899 in July from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to continue bringing the Sincil Bank community together.

The cash has allowed the foundation to continue its work, with its total funds growing from £82,121 to £150,555 across 2017/18.

Some of the work the foundation has done includes an over 50s stadium tour and a half marathon to bring together different areas of the city.

University of Lincoln Students’ Union community officer Holly Tyers said: “The event will be a fantastic chance for students to get to know about the local community.”
